THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA

More than 4.5 billion people are internet users in 2020, and in a recent study conducted it revealed that over 3.8 billion people are active social media users. As over 91% of brands now use a social media platform to promote their services or products, it is important to understand that this is now a vital part of any business. Instagram became an incredibly popular platform for small and medium businesses to use, in 2018 the app created a 'tap to buy' feature where products can be linked directly to the photo accompanied by the price and a website to make the purchase on.

The average person spends 15 minutes of their day scrolling through instagram and and are taking in subliminal messages without realising. Many brand now promote their posts and advertise on instagram so even if you aren't following them, you are still being made aware of the brand.

For these reasons, it is incredibly important that when starting my brand to create social media pages, in order to increase brand awareness and in turn build a consumer base.
